Complete workshop wall storage system

Building by reclaimed materials a complete wall storage system where to keep all my materials

INTRO

For who doesn’t know I’m trying to build from scratch a workshop where I could build all my projects. Most of the renovation is complete and now I was looking for a place where to store all my materials. I usually use 6 mt steel bars, 4 mt construction lumbers, 1.5 mt x 3 mt metal sheets and standard 1.2 x 2.4 (4×8 feet) ply.

DESIGN

My design needed to be more comfortable than possible so I decide to store my longer parts on a 1.5 mt high shelf, so when the truck comes to my shop whit the materials, it can get in and we can easily let these materials slide from the back of the truck to my shelf, very easy!

In the lower part, I will build a trolley on casters, (I will use ball bearings as casters) so when I come to my DEN whit my ply or the metal sheets I just bought, I will let this trolley roll away from the wall and put into it all my materials.

BUILDING PROCESS

My building process started from a 60mm 5mt long reclaimed pipe that was used to hold tires on a wall. I used 12mm heavy wall plugs to attach the pipe to the wall.

I then cut 5 80×80 mm 700 mm long lumbers, I laned them on the pipe at a 10-degree angle and I made a 60 mm half hole in it. This half hole allows the lumber to let the pipe fit inside it. Then I placed 5 brackets on the wall whit 12mm heavy wall plugs.

When I cut the lumber at the table saw I kept the 10 off-cuts so I can use them to have any lumber to stay flush in the bracket. I then placed the lumbers on the pipe and screwed them to the bracket.

After the beams were built I cut to sike some construction boards I had around my shop and I placed them in position and screwed them to the lumber. I ended by adding 2 vertical 130×2500 mm bords to avoid my materials to fall on the floor

Part 2 will be about the cart I build so stay tuned for further uploads

what you would have done differently? Let me know in the comment section below if you know another way or even a better solution to store all your workshop materials. I will surely consider building some upgrade to mine it in the future.
